Beach Weddings in Hawaii – Beachwed

FAQ = Frequently Asked Questions

See What's New at A Beach Wedding $95??

  • Can I bring my own photographer or get my own limo?

Yes, of course. However, service providers you book separately from ours are unproven & potentially unreliable; ours are reliable, speak English & are always on time. There is one chance to get your ceremony done right & we guarantee everything we do. We work with professionals from every area of service; they know what we do, what to expect & how everything will proceed. You won't get this from an outsider; you'll be on your own with the consequences. Example: Many of our couples have chosen to arrange local transportation & more times than not, the driver is late on pick-up, late to the site or gets lost on the way. (English is not the first language of most drivers.) In the end, it may cost you lots more than you thought.

  • Do you get the license for us; is it included in the package; can we apply by mail?

No. You must apply in person with an authorized Marriage License Agent at the Health Department (not the courthouse) or at a licensing agent's home after hours. See licensing page for details.

  •  What do we do if it rains?

Get wet? Most beaches are out in the open, but some have limited shelter. We also use umbrellas here. Tropical showers are warm and usually don't last very long; more frequent during the winter. We can wait a few minutes then go for it. Whatever happens will be part of your unique memories so make the best of it and let's have fun. Keep in mind, showers lead to rainbows and, on your wedding day, are considered a very special blessing by Hawaiians!

  •  How do we get to the wedding site?

If you don't rent a car here, transportation to most of our sites can be by walking, bus or taxi. The Bus is very efficient at $2 per adult. When you choose a location, take into account how you will get there & allow sufficient time. We don't provide free transportation, but our limo is very comfortable and is priced quite reasonably. If we didn't send you a map, please remind us to do so.

  •  Do we meet you before the wedding?

Usually not. Most couples want to keep things simple and this is reflected in our prices. Many coordinators provide all kinds of services then charge thousands for it. We can do that, too, just ask! Our minister will go over everything when you meet at the site; we try to get everybody there 10-15 minutes early so we can start at the scheduled time.

  •  Can you send me a brochure?

We strive to maintain the lowest prices yet highest quality of services, so our "brochure" is our web pages. A printed representation could not nearly compare to the amount of timely information, photos, video clips and descriptions here on our site. We do change it frequently to provide you the best information we can.

  •   I don't want you to use words like "order", "obey", "follow" etc.; can you send me a copy of the vows?

We don't. Most couples are so delighted when they see the vows they don't change or add to them. But you can if you want. Once you are confirmed, we can send a copy on request.

  •  I like everything in the package except (this). Can I substitute (that) for this?

The packages are fixed at a discounted price. If you want to delete something, then forget the package and just select what you want from the ala carte menu, then add up the each prices shown to get your total. We do not make substitutions. If you want to add something to the package, like a video for example, then just check the boxes and add the prices from the ala carte menu to the package price. Let us know if you want to make changes or additions.

  •  I like a big package, but I am a student/military. Can I get a discount?

No. There is no double discount. Most of the package deals have a discount built-in.

  •  Do we need a permit to have our wedding on the beach?

Not unless you have more than 25 people or hire a photographer/videographer, then one may be required. Beaches we use here for weddings are not very large and parking can sometimes be quite difficult with few options. You should take this into account in your planning. We may assess an overtime fee if you are late and if we have another service following yours, you may have to wait or reschedule.

  •  How long will the ceremony last and what will it entail?

Our normal ceremony without video or musician is only 6-7 minutes. Then we do the paperwork, present the couple and finish with the forever guarantee. We are usually done in 10-15 minutes so no chairs are needed and you can get on with your celebration with family and friends. If the bride wants to be given away or wants to come down the "aisle", we can do that. Just let us know.

  •  Can a person go through a marriage and then choose not to make it legal?  We want to be married but do not want the legal certification.

We can perform a "symbolic" wedding ceremony (similar to a vow renewal or gay union) without your obtaining a marriage license, but you will not be legally married under the law, in Hawaii or elsewhere, without our filing a valid completed marriage license. Gay unions are not a legal form of marriage under Hawaii law.

  •  What is the guideline for tipping performers?

We are a service industry & take pride in our professionalism, passion & simplicity. We also have taken great effort to deliver the very best services at the very best price on Oahu, despite rising cost of fuel, flowers & labor. Consequently, your gratuities in the form of tips is greatly appreciated. As a guideline, restaurants usually recommend tipping 15-20% of the total. By paying the provider directly following the service, you can express your gratitude in a personal way. Mahalo for your trust... a gift we relish!
