Big Island Wedding Sites

Big Island | Hawaii Beach Photos

Make your wedding or renewal ceremony a spectacular event on one of the pristine beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii! The beaches on the Big Island offer idyllic settings for your special day. You may be greeted by a long curved sandy beach, a view of volcanic rocks along the coastline and an expansive ocean view surrounded by beach on both sides. If you want a photographic memory that shows tropical foliage as well as the beach & ocean, you are in the right place year around. If you want a great sunset, choose one of our favorite beaches below, on the Kailua-Kona coast for a great view. Generally there are fewer people on beaches during the week and seasonal waves may impact safe access. Photos below are arranged geographically South to North. Many other beaches are situated along this coastline and may be suitable for your romantic beach wedding. Let us know if we can help.

Description of Big Island Wedding Sites – South to North Kona Coast

Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area Video
Old Kona Airport closed in 1970 because it was to small for the larger carriers, now a beautiful Beach Park. Located just north of Kailua town. Kuakini St. goes directly into the Airport runway. The south side is a park with ball fields and across from the beach is another park and walking trail. Restrooms available. Pavilions available for rent from the County.

Kua Bay
Not recommended for weddings. Please choose Kukio Beach.

Kukio Beach Video
Located next to The Four Seasons Resort at North Kohala area. This is a long crescent of white soft sand backed in parts by Palm & Ironwood & Kiawe (mesquite) trees. You will find Hawaiian green Turtles on the beach as well as on the rocks in the ocean. Easy parking; you must stop at the guard booth and tell the guard where you are going to get a parking pass. Take Hwy 19 to mile marker 86, look for the sign says Hualalai Resorts. Restrooms available.

Anaeho’omalu Bay (A-Bay) Video
Located on a beautiful Waikoloa Beach. A-Bay is a long curving salt and pepper sand beach, very tranquil, protected by an off shore reef. Peaceful and scenic rows of palm trees and a large placid fish pond make for great photography. Follow the Lava Lava Restaurant signs to a large free parking lot before the restaurant. Restrooms available.

Waialea Beach at Puako Bay (69 Beach) Video
This beach is one of the more popular white sand beaches on the Big Island.  Especially  during summer months, because of sun, shade and good snorkeling. It is also called  “69 beach” because of the mile marker 69 close to the parking area. The white sand erodes during the winter due to strong surf, but is pristine during the summer. There is plenty of tree cover providing shade and privacy. No life guard on duty; showers and restrooms available.

Hapuna Beach at Hapuna Bay Video
Summer 2017: This site is very CROWDED and due to road construction, our providers require more than an hour to get there one-way. After noon the commute traffic gets EXTREMELY heavy as local shops close at 2-3 PM. We are not willing to book anything at this site after the 11th hour. Thanks for your understanding.

If you can imagine a perfect beach (1/2 a mile long, 200 feet wide), this is it. Conde Nest Traveler magazine has often voted this beach the best in the entire nation. There are many spots to have your ceremony but it is often quite busy, especially on weekends. Located 30 miles north of Kailua-Kona Village off Hwy 19 and adjacent to Hapuna Prince Resort. If you stay at the Prince, it’s best to drive to the parking lot as getting to your minister along the beach may be very difficult due to surf & tides. Lifeguard on duty. Restrooms available. Parking $5 for non-residents.
